How Does RF Microneedling Differ from Conventional Microneedling?
Traditional microneedling involves making tiny micro injuries to the surface of the skin. The micro wounds don’t go past the dermis layer so that collagen and elastin production is stimulated only at the surface level, resulting in a reduction of minor facial lines.
But when we add radiofrequency to the procedure, we are able to target the dermal tissues located deep in your skin – which is where most of the long-term damage actually exists. The radiofrequency waves heat the tissues in the skin, causing the damaged cells to disintegrate. This boosts cellular regeneration. It’s advisable not to wear any makeup for 2-3 days to allow your skin to heal. Afterward, you need to use skin-sensitive cosmetics that have hydrating agents. It’s best to stay out of the sun for a few days as well since direct exposure can be harsh on sensitive skin.
